Meeting with our friends at the Hampton Inn in Fort Stockton this week during another swing through the western part of District 23. They shared their thoughts and concerns about this great country, and about recent events in Washington.
Our campaign has been going well the past couple months. Recently I had the blessing of meeting several hundred folks in Medina County one-on-one while spending the day at the Medina County fair. It is clear that most people across the socioeconomic spectrum are tired of the same old problems and foolishness coming out of Washington and making just plain living more difficult and costly for anyone wishing to open a small business, or just live their lives in peace.
It seems those in Washington feel they need to involve themselves in every aspect of our lives, monitoring and recording everything we buy and say, and do – even at our doctor’s office…and they want us (well, we working people) to pay for it all too!
I was out in West Texas this past week and was blessed to meet up with folks in Reagan, Upton, Crane, Ward, Loving and Winkler Counties. Our district is certainly blessed with hard-working, strong conservative Texans. We’re also blessed with several strong conservative leaders in local office who do a lot of great work for their communities. These servant leaders keep government small, limited and effective because they stick to what they have been charged to do, and don’t overreach their authority.
I hope everyone had a great Independence Day. Now it is time to focus on building our Team of engaged Texans for 2014. I am very excited about our chances of getting this campaign won next March. Our nation is past the point of being able to tolerate another cadre of new Congressmen who claim they are conservative, but aren’t ready to back it up with action once there in DC. It is time we vote in the person we need to do the job right and represent us, not the party’s leadership. Do you want to help our country move in the right direction? It is up to each of us to stand up to the status quo and be a part of the solution. Though curing the corruption and foolishness in DC may seem an insurmountable task, it can be done, and I believe it can be accomplished by a few good people standing up and fighting. We have seen people such as Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and others make a difference this year already. Help me get to DC so as to add another true voice and worker to this cause of liberty.
